Do you need to take the pully off to change the bearings in an alternator? If so options on how to do that.?

Yes you do because the bearings sits on the front housing of the alternator. You are wasting your time. It is better to just get a new or rebuilt one instead of going through all the hassle of taking the alternator apart. If you still want to do it, you will need a allen wrench and an impact gun and a puller.Do you need to take the pully off to change the bearings in an alternator? If so options on how to do that.?
Yes you do if you wish to attempt that which I would suggest you don't try if your only reason is to save money. You will only destroy what you have , ruin the core value and end up paying for a replacement and a useless bearing on top of it.

If you are just trying to fill an afternoon with a learning project, go for it.Do you need to take the pully off to change the bearings in an alternator? If so options on how to do that.?
Yes, then you got to press the shaft out and then press the bearing out. sometimes it`s cheaper to go the route of bearing replacement but sometimes i just buy a new one cause of the pain.
you can't change the bearings, and brushes, internal voltage regulator and time for the price of swapping it out with a rebuilt one.
You need to remove belt do not take it all the way off just enough to remove alternator and I hope you know what you are doing I use to re build them long time ago before they became modern but I still have the charm to build from scratch, Hope this helps,
