1990 Pathfinder engine is knocking?

Can i add a heavier oil to it to stop it, or do i have to change the rod bearings and how easy is it to change out the bearings.1990 Pathfinder engine is knocking?
uh-oh!

theres no real quick fix if its bottom end bearings.

if you have to ask how easy it is you might not be ready for it.

it might be worth reringing it while you're at it.

*you have to check for wear to the crank journals and you have to check bearing clearances so that you get the right bearings. if its a main bearing knocking you need to take the crankshaft out which means removing the timing belt etc- if you get it back together wrong its bad news.

get it done properly or you're wasting your time.1990 Pathfinder engine is knocking?
if your engine has gotten to the point it is knocking it is to late just by replacing rod bearings will not help the crankshaft journal is not round anymore , to do this correctly the crank would have to be turned then new bearings there is no easy fix for a knocking engine.
