How hard is it to change front wheel bearings on a 96 Hyundai elantra?

If you've ever replaced the brake pads, it's just the next step along that line, shouldn't be too bad unless they're sealed bearings (I don't know what kind they are).

It is messy, do one side at a time so you have the other for reference, you will want to do both sides so it is all done and you will want to get the bearings, probably two cotter pins, and likely the nut and perhaps the washer as well... You may can re-use the old parts, but this is one job that unless you plan on doing this frequently, you're best off replacing all the extra little hardware as it is only a few dollars more (and it's recommended).

You will need grease, and I recommend a grease gun and a wheel bearing packing tool (cost about $10 and looks like a cone shaped pyramid), also a bunch of rags.

First time might take an afternoon, but with practice, 1-2 hours a wheel at the most, I'm sure I've done one in 30-45 minutes before. It's really not that bad, I've been doing mine for years, it's one job I don't mind but you also want to make sure you've got a hydraulic floor jack or at the very least jack stands. How hard is it to change front wheel bearings on a 96 Hyundai elantra?
Yes considering that you have to replace the hub assembly. Depends on how far you drove it when you knew it was bad. Friction tends to bind automotive bearings. youll need some hefty tools
